The TDCI has a high pressure pump only. It is fitted and driven off the engine itself. You can locate it on the front left of the engine by following the two pipes from the fuel filter on the rear left of the engine bay beside the front suspension mount. It is a fairly big job to remove and I am not sure what looking at it will tell you.

Make up a plate to seal the hole afterwards, a bit of scrap metal, a couple of screws. (making sure they are short enough not to puncture the tank) and some silicone. sealant to keep it totally sealed. MK4.5 TDCI 140 Business Estate. .
The car un question is 2008 mondeo with a 140 2.0tdci engine. I bought this car from an auction, so i couldn't physically see the leak. It seems that diesel is leaking (spraying) from a bottom cover of the fuel pump. I don't know if this cover has a seal. I tried looking for repair kits, but it seems that there are no seals same shape as this I have had rough idling issues with the car (Ford Mondeo TDCi 2.0 130 Ghia 05 plate, done about 104k miles). Garage identified injector fault. Bought used injectors from ebay, garage fitted them all in for about £400. That solved the idle issues.
So I recently bought a mk5 2.0 180Ps Mondeo. Lovely car, 80k, full service history etc.and the usual oil leak from the high pressure fuel pump drive gear housing gasket. Looking online it's a "standard" leak on all these engines - suggestions are to replace if it's really bad, or just put up with it, because replacing the gaskets only lasts
A new fuel vaporizer and dosing pump was fitted and all learned values cleared from the ecu and the system purged via the ford ids system, the procedure warns that you should expect to capture up to 500ml of fuel during the purge, but less than 100ml was captured.
